Ulver et le sacré, c'est toute une histoire. Si Shadows of the Sun mettait la part belle au destin des morts et au deuil, il n'est finalement pas si surprenant de croiser cette Messe I.X-VI.X dans la discographie de la Meute norvégienne. Cet album est cependant bien plus orchestral, mettant notamment l'accent sur une symphonie de violons, avec quelques expérimentations ("Noche oscura del alma"). La vraie religion chez Ulver, c'est bien celle de la musique et là où elle peut nous porter.
